FASN is a registered charity made up of peer-led family support facilitators, a dedicated core team, board members, and volunteers, all united by a commitment to supporting families affected by addiction. As a not-for-profit organisation, our focus is on providing vital services rather than generating profit. To date, FASN receives funding for just one support worker along with limited core funding, meaning we rely heavily on the generosity of the public, community fundraising, and voluntary contributions of time and expertise. The majority of our core team, facilitators, and board of directors give their time on a voluntary basis, reflecting the passion and lived experience that drive our work. This structure allows FASN to remain rooted in community, ensuring that families across the region can access support that is both sustainable and deeply connected to their real-life needs.
Volunteering is at the heart of what we do. Volunteers are recruited through FASN Peer Led Family Support Groups. Facilitators are the backbone of FASN and are ‘experts” in delivering support to communities on a weekly basis throughout the four counties on a voluntary basis.
- FASN currently has 15 voluntary Peer Led Family Support Facilitators.
- In 2024, FASN received 7,376 hours of volunteering support, equating to in-kind support of €388,493.92
- National Family Support Research highlights that for every €1 invested in family support, there is a social return on investment of €5.
- On average, FASN’s volunteering program achieves €1,942,469 social return on investment.
This is not just an investment in a service — it is an investment in families, in recovery, and in the health of our communities.
